The Orca-Performance Fin installs in minutes without drilling using the 45M-Clamp kit or bolt directly to the cavitation plate using included hardware. The Orca fin is usually mounted with the fins down but may be installed fins up without modification if you desire less aggressive control. Love the no drill option. I was not going to drill holes in my outdrive. Period. I hated the wandering at low speeds. It's gone. Totally different low speed driving experience. Very noticeable increase in steering around the dock and lift. Added bonus is more reaction from small adjustments to trim up/down. I did not know I could love my boat more! Oldy but a goody. 1998 Mariah jubilee. 24' 350 mag with alpha 1 merccriuser. Holds 14 people goes over 40 mph and handles like a 19 foot runabout. Love love love the orca!
Purchased in May 2021 and received very well packaged. My stern drive is an OMC 800 powered by a 350cid Chevy V8. The No Drill Clamp did not work with my application and I mounted the the Orca Performance Fin as a totally custom application. I probably should have sent it all back but being a very capable shop guy I chose to use the fin with my personal modifications....cutting a 4.5" diameter hole to fit around the trim fin above the propeller. I also mounted the Orca Fin below the cavitation plate....it fits very nicely and clears the prop but is close. I will send a few phots of the installation in days to come. I just put it on my 250 Verado, and it works great. The boat no longer drifts at idle as long as the motor is straight. My turning radius has tightened. I bought this one, because I love the smaller one for my kicker.
I bought this fin for my 24 ft pontoon boat hoping that it will help with my turning and cavitation problems. We will find out once the weather breaks.
